Engage a Culture: Write Reviews for LIFETEEN.com
We've committed the last ten months to building a foundation for our Reviews section that demonstrates a balanced perspective rooted in Catholic teaching. Now we need others to catch the vision and commit their God-given talents to become contributing writers. That's right, we people to write reviews for movies, video games, books, and music. If you are a high school upperclassmen, a college student, or a college graduate, you should prayerfully consider writing for our website.
Why do we need new writers? There is a misconception that this site is online because we have a lot of money. The only money we have is what people have donated to us, or money that we've made when people buy things in our online store. This barely pays for the basic costs of running a site this big.
The real reason this website is able to be online and thriving is because people volunteer their time. Every week, people volunteer for an average of 100 total hours. (They pack boxes for the store, moderate in Teen Talk, transcribe interviews, maintain our servers, etc.) Quite simply, this is a community-supported website.
There is a misconception that this site is online because we have a lot of money. Why write reviews for lifeteen.com? If you are interested in a career in journalism, this is a good place to start. You'll work with an experienced editor to refine your writing. You'll get published to a large readership. You'll get a chance to have your opinion heard. You'll boost your resume. Plus, this is also a great spend your spare time during the summer. But above all, you'll be using your God-given talents for God. There is no greater joy in life than putting your talent to the service of your Creator. It's fun. It's addictive.
What makes a good reviews writer? You need to like to write. It's not enough to like playing video games or watching movies--everybody likes to do that. You need to enjoy the craft of writing and rewriting. You need to be a convicted Catholic who is interested in engaging a culture. You need to be dedicated and reliable, able to work with an editor to meet a deadline.
So pray about it. If you feel a nudge, then click here to learn more about the application process.
