Movie vs. Movie

YM Todd
Lemieux

It's summer now, and soon we'll make trips to Blockbuster to rent DVDs. Don't know what to rent? I've taken three pairs of similar films and analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of each. Then I take whimsical look at which film qualifies as more Catholic than the other. I encourage you to take three nights and have a battle at your house. Get lots of friends and buckets of popcorn. Let the articles here and the movies start fun conversations that make a summer night unforgettable.

With the complete understanding that movies cannot replace the Gospel, it is important to recognize that any of our desires are a desire for heaven, hence our desire for entertainment, is a desire to fill that God-shaped hole inside us.

The following comparisons do not reflect anyone's opinion but the author's. Any theological oversight is intentional.

Battle I: The Planet of the Apes (1968) vs. The Planet of the Apes (2001)

Battle II: Rudy (1993) vs. The Waterboy (1998)

Battle III: Independence Day (1996) vs. Signs (2002)
