"....the Spirit too comes to aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes with inexpressible groanings." -Romans 8:26
SITUATION EXPLAINED
Do you ever get frustrated when you try to pray because things just don't "come out of your mouth right?" Do you ever sit at church or at LIFE or a prayer group, and hear somebody else pray and say, "I wish I could pray like that" or "I don't know how to say those things......I sound stupid when I pray......" Sometimes it can be intimidating to pray out loud, especially in front of a group of people, if you're not used to it.
SOLUTION OFFERED
Last time we read from 1 Samuel and God reminded us that He looks beyond our outward appearance, and more at our heart. Today, St. Paul is telling the Romans that it DOESN'T MATTER what WORDS they use when they pray, because if we're doing right, (with our hearts, that is) than the Holy Spirit surrounds our prayer with its own language. He tells us that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us, it speaks in sighs that are TOO DEEP for words.
God doesn't care what wording or phrasing you use when you're talking to Him. God knows our hearts. God knows you better than you know yourself. Tonight when you pray, try something different. Don't be as concerned with the words.....He knows all. Instead, why don't you and I do less talking and more listening. Sometimes we just need to shut up when we pray! Spend some time in silence tonight with the Lord, and let Him really speak to your heart. Listen with your heart more than listening for a "voice." If you don't hear anything at first, it's okay, just stay silent. Let God do the talking, and let Him have the last word.
SALVATION GIVEN
"....the Spirit too comes to aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes with inexpressible groanings." -Romans 8:26
God gave you TWO ears and ONE mouth, so we'd listen twice as much as we talk!
