You Asked Bible Geek

Q: Is it okay to drink, if you do not get drunk?

One of the expressions that I hated most growing up was, “…because I said so, that’s why.” I heard it from my parents, teachers, priests and nuns…it drove me crazy. It made me even madder as I got into high school and college. You want the truth? Even today, (I’m only in my twenties but still) even today, after college, when I hear the phrase “because I said so” from someone, if they don’t offer an intelligent reason to go along with their “command”…I get bitter.

I’m a brat. I want a reason, one that doesn’t insult my intelligence.
Sometimes I will disagree just to disagree.

Look, I’m a young adult, you’re a young adult, and that’s why I’m not gonna say to you, “because I said so”. As you read the rest of this, know that I’m being straight with you.

If you don’t like what you read here, that’s your prerogative, but even if you disagree with what is here, there are two things you can’t disagree with:

1. I’m telling you the truth, as it is contained in the Holy Scriptures.
2. I care about you, your soul, and the souls of those young adults around you.

It’s true. I don’t have to know you personally to care about your soul.
You are loved, and I am praying for you.
